The Greek Project

How does economic and political turmoil influence young people’s view of the future and their sense of purpose in life? Using mixed methods, and a sample of Greek adolescents, this study seeks to explore this question. According to UNICEF (2014), the recent global economic recession hit Greek adolescents particularly hard. This group finds itself confronting an economic and political future that is unknown at best and bleak at worst. However, in other contexts, youth with purpose tend to approach the future with optimism and hope. Accordingly, this study seeks to gain a fuller understanding of the role purpose plays in helping youth navigate a difficult economic and political landscape.
