Patience Amidst Adversity

The Patience amidst Adversity grant is a larger grant to Baylor University. Members of the Adolescent Moral Development lab will lead the qualitative component of this larger project. Including a qualitative component is essential to understanding the situated, lived experience of patience, to clarifying and extending quantitative findings, to understanding how individuals lead exemplary lives of patience, and to generating hypotheses and models for future research on patience. To achieve these aims, we will conduct semi-structured, clinical-style interviews (Creswell & Poth, 2018) with parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and parents of first gen college students. In addition, we will conduct interviews with a sample of exemplars of patience.
